黃笑生又指，目前申請綠卡變得「非常的難、非常的慢」。大多數偷渡至美國的移民，在入境之後都會透過申請庇護的方式留在美國。根據美國智庫「移民研究中心」（Center for Immigration Studies）去年底發表的研究，2024年2月，政治庇護的批准率為51%，其後開始逐漸下降，直到特朗普上台之後，進一步下降至2025年8月的19%。
